3. How will both you and I know how my child is doing and how will you help me to support my child’s learning
Class teachers will be available on a daily basis at the start and end of the school day. Should you need to speak with them at more length they will be happy to book an appointment at a mutually convenient time. Members of the Inclusion Team will also be available to address any concerns you have.
Annual reports and termly Parent’s/carer’s evenings give you regular feedback on your child’s academic progress and effort in learning. They also provide you with information on your child’s targets.
Where it is deemed appropriate, parents/carers of children with identified special educational needs may additionally be invited in once a term to share their child’s individual Passport to Success and to discuss ways that the child will be supported both at school and at home. In addition, Individual Behaviour Plans are introduced where behaviour inhibits the learning of our pupils. These are written and shared with parents regularly.
If your child has a Statement or an EHC Plan you will be involved in an annual review of their progress. This will be facilitated by the SENCos and will involve all agencies supporting the child.
School staff will support parents/carers to help their children at home by discussing fun approaches to learning, supplying suitable learning resources and by offering ongoing support and encouragement to both you and your children. We believe that children benefit from a strong partnership between school and home.
